ALLELES
IDENTIFIED BY MOLECULAR TYPING - JANUARY 2003
The PCR-SSP typing sets developed at our laboratory identify HLA Class I and Class II alleles recognized by the WHO Nomenclature Committee in 2000 (5). Some additional HLA alleles have been included that were recognized following these nomenclature reports. Typing is available at high- or low-resolution. The low-resolution typing sets are able to define allele groups that generally correspond to serological specificities, whereas high-resolution typing sets are generally able to define individual alleles within the allele groups. We regularly update our typing sets to identify new alleles when sequences become available. Sequence-based typing (SBT) is available for HLA-A, -B, -DRB1 and -DPB1 genes. |
